Who is Tim U for?

This School is for men at Calvary Chapel Meridian who desire to be an overseer of the Church. This Pastor/Elder Training School will have a duration of 12 months consisting of four semesters lasting ten weeks each.

Requirements to begin:

  • Intense desire to grow in ministerial skills

  • Commitment to complete entire course of four semesters, about 12 months of study

  • Must attend Calvary Chapel Meridian during entire course and be currently serving in ministry

  • Willingness to study hard and read a large amount of material

  • Purchase of books and materials for each semester at your own expense

  • Previous regular attendance at Calvary Chapel Meridian for at least three months

  • Written letter of approval from spouse (if applicable)

  • Timothy University Application completed and submitted

  • Written reference letter from a Pastor, Elder or Ministry Leader currently serving at Calvary Chapel Meridian, in addition to references provided on application

Timothy University Course of Study
(12 months)

Semester 1 
10 Class Meetings over ten weeks: Biblical Counseling; New Testament Survey; Old Testament Survey.

 Semester 2 
10 Class Meetings over ten weeks: Church History; Calvary Chapel History; Prayer.

Semester 3 
10 Class Meetings over ten weeks: Eschatology; Systematic Theology; Calvinism vs. Arminianism; Apologetics

Semester 4 
10 Class Meetings over ten weeks: Preaching and Teaching; Worship; Leadership.


Important policies to be aware of:
  • Students must complete all four semesters of Tim U to be considered for ordination.

  • All students are to immediately assume the requirements of being an Elder when you begin the course, even though you will not be serving in that capacity. However, failure to remain in obedience to an Elder's calling and requirements will be grounds for dismissal.

  • All expenses for books and other supplies are solely the responsibility of each student.

  • All students must be current, attending members of our church.  No exceptions.

  • Since serving the body is the reason people pursue leadership in the local church, you must immediately begin serving at the church, making yourself available as necessary to whatever ministry we need you in.

  • The objective is to produce the heart of a servant leader in you.  Therefore, watching you in ministry is as important as completing this course of study.

  • Each student is allowed to miss up to two classes per semester.

  • Successful completion of each semester is necessary to continue to the following semester.

  • Each perspective student must complete an application and a doctrine questionnaire prior to acceptance into Timothy University.

  • Completion of this course does not compel you to become an elder or pastor, nor does it promise that Calvary Meridian will ordain you into it either.  Each man’s calling will be evaluated individually.
