CALVARY CHAPEL MERIDIAN

The Good News Continues To Be Spread (PreK/Toddler)

Today in Calvary Kids, Paul continues to spread the Good News. We will see some people believe and others that do not. We will also learn how important it is to search God’s word to make sure things that other believers say are true.

Read Acts 17

Paul and Silas continued to go around and preach the good news of Christ. Greeks and Jews were both coming to Christ during this time. It is so important to share Jesus with people because you never know how God can use that to make peoples' lives change drastically.

During the time Paul and Silas were preaching, there were some Jews who became so jealous, (not happy because it was not about them) they caused a riot and a mob of people went looking for Paul and Silas. They didn’t believe in what Paul and Silas were talking about. When people aren’t following God, they have a harder time making the right decision on how to respond to situations. Even if we follow God, we need Him to help us make good decisions.

The Jews that were jealous decided to take some of the believers before the leaders of the city and basically tell on them. The leaders didn’t like this and so what did they do? Instead of putting them in jail this time, they made them pay a bunch of money. Although they had to pay a large sum, thankfully no one was put into jail.

As they continued on, news traveled fast that Paul was still teaching and it got back to the Jews who were jealous. They came and made trouble and would not themselves believe in Jesus. Paul got away to the coast and escaped going to jail yet again.

As Paul traveled to Athens, he waited for his friends to arrive. He saw there that they were worshiping other things; idols. Paul did meet some Jews and Greeks who did worship the true God though! He got to have good conversations with others, while some conversations turned into arguments. Some people didn’t think Paul knew what we was talking about. Yet instead of trying to hurt Paul or make bad things happen, they decided to ask for him to explain to them what he meant. This is always how we should respond when we don’t understand something. We should ask people to explain and be willing to listen to their response.

How many of you have heard new things that you didn’t understand? How did you learn to understand? You asked questions! In verses 22-31 Paul goes on to give the Gospel message. He talks about how God gave His life for us and how we are God’s children. It is by His power we live and we can live by the truth that He Chose us!

When Paul spoke about Jesus being  raised from the dead, some laughed and didn’t believe. We have to realize that all people are different and some are going to respond differently to the Gospel than others. We don’t know exactly how people will react, but this should not keep us from sharing God’s love with others. These men who continued to go around spreading God’s word never knew how people would respond to their message, but they did it anyways.

Not everyone is called to go out and do what these men did, yet God still wants us to share His truth and love with others. We can still give our lives to God and allow Him to use us in ways that only He can do. Are you willing to led God use you in the ways He wants to in your life today?
