CALVARY CHAPEL MERIDIAN

The Transfiguration

When camping in the woods it’s very important that you pay special attention to setting your tent up correctly. There’s nothing worse than having a tent collapse on top of you, especially in the middle of the night or worse, in the middle of bad weather. Imagine having to crawl out into the mud in your pajamas with the rain pouring down and the wind blasting your tent as you struggle to rebuild it! Some things deserve our attention. Do you give Jesus your full attention? People often pay attention to their favorite celebrities. They like to imitate them, copying their hair, their clothes, and their lives... but imagine if we all lived like Jesus instead!

Early in His ministry, Jesus’ followers knew He was a special man. They knew it from the miracles He performed and the lessons He taught. Then one day, three of His disciples saw something even more incredible, a sight that left no doubt Jesus deserved their full attention.

Read Mark 9:2-13

Jesus, the Son of God, came to the earth to set us free from our sins, but He did more than die for our sins. Jesus showed us a different way to live. Through His teachings, His miracles, and His interactions with people, Jesus taught us how to love the way God loves us.

Family Discussion starters:
  • Who did the disciples see on the mountain with Jesus?
  • What did God say to the disciples?
  • Why do we need to give Jesus our full attention?

Parents, paying attention to Jesus is how we learn to live like Jesus. Ask God to help you grow closer to Jesus even as you encourage your kids to do the same.

Memory Verse
He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6
