A Bride for Isaac
Genesis 24:63–67
When Abraham sent his servant to find a wife for Isaac, God demonstrated his control even in difficult situations. The servant knew he needed God’s help, so he began to pray. Before the servant even finished his prayer, a young lady named Rebekah walked out to the well. God provided Rebekah as a bride for Isaac according to His perfect plan.
God is sovereign and faithful. He was in complete control of everything that happened. God guided Abraham’s servant 500 miles to the right town and to the right woman, who did the right things just like he prayed she would do! God made everything happen just the way He planned it. We can trust God to work all things for good for those who belong to Him. And just like Abraham’s servant, we can pray and trust God to lead us, too.
Family discussion and prayer:
When we trust and obey the Lord, we can stop worrying and believe that God will work out a good plan in our lives. If, on the other hand, you have been trying to ignore or fight against God, or just keep trying to do things your own way, ask God today to change your heart and help you trust Him. Praise God for his sovereignty –He is in control of everything. Thank Him that we can trust Him every day in everything. Pray these things with your kids this week!
Memory Verse
Now the Lord said to Abram, "Go from your country and your kindred and your father's house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessings." Genesis 12:1-2
