Move Up Sunday
Move Up Sunday was a huge success!
We, of course, didn’t forget the reason we are there... Jesus! This week we chose to have a one-time topical lesson called “Jesus is the Great I AM”. We spent some time getting to know who Jesus is. In the book of John in the Bible, Jesus gives us seven powerful ‘I AM’ statements. We spent our time together talking about those seven statements and what they mean. When God says He is “I AM,” or “I AM WHO I AM,” He means that nothing and no one can ever change His character. He is, was, and always will be the perfect and loving God forever, no matter what. When we believe that Jesus is I AM, the perfect God who loves us. We show that we love Him by loving others and serving others just like He did. And when we love Him and ask Him to forgive us of our sins, we can say, “I AM HIS!” We belong to Jesus when we follow Him. He will protect us and provide for us. As Christians, we are who we are because of who Jesus is. It is wonderful to know that He is the great I AM!
This week the kids made the transition to their next grade. This meant saying goodbye to our 5th graders as they moved up to Middle School, but we welcomed them back one last time to celebrate with us!
Move Up Sunday is a day the kids look forward to every year. Our youth leaders joined us this week to help us celebrate this fun day. We made a huge mess (intentionally!), played some group games inside, spent some time outside rotating through some more fun activities and games, and we had balloons and snow cones for the kids after service! Even our littlest Calvary Kids joined in for some bubbles, hopscotch, parachute, and sidewalk chalk. The kids had the opportunity throughout the morning to earn tickets for prizes! Then, they all had fun shopping at our prize tables at the end.
