Cain and Abel
Genesis 4:2-5; Hebrews 11:4; Genesis 4:8-9, 4:13, 4:15
Adam and Eve had two sons named Cain and Abel. As they grew up, Abel became a shepherd, and Cain worked the ground. After some time, they each brought an offering to the Lord. Cain brought "fruit of the ground", while Abel brought the "firstborn of his flock."
On the outside it looked like both brothers were being obedient to God. Abel offered his sacrifice to God with love and obedience in his heart, but Cain's heart was wicked. God knew what was in each of their hearts.
Cain was jealous of his brother because God accepted his brother's offering and not his. He got angry, he lied, and he murdered his own brother!
We learned through this tragic story that God is omniscient - He knows everything. God knows each of our hearts. We can't fool God! Even if we try to put on a happy face on the outside. God wants us to do our best for him all the time.

Memory Verse
Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. Genesis 6:5
