Crossing the Red Sea - Exodus Series (Toddler/PreK)
Today in Calvary Kids, we learned about God's people crossing the Red Sea. The people were scared, they cried out to God, He did something amazing (made the Red Sea split!), and God kept them safe.
Read Exodus 14:1-31
The Bible tells us that God's people were walking, and they came to a really, really big sea -the Red Sea! It was SO big! And they couldn't swim across with all their families and animals. They were stuck, but God had a plan! God was going to show Pharaoh for the last time that He was the strongest and rules over all the earth.
There was water in front of them and there were mountains on the side and guess what? The bad king's army was chasing them! The people could see hundreds of soldiers coming their way! God's people were really, really scared! The Bible tells us that Moses held up his stick, and GOD DID SOMETHING AMAZING! God sent a big, strong wind and the wind blew ALL NIGHT LONG. The water went UP like walls! There was a path right through the middle of the water and it was amazing.
Can you imagine walking between walls of water? It wasn't muddy or wet, but completely DRY! God held up those walls of water the whole time! All the people - the mommies, daddies, kids, and animals - walked through safely!
God kept His people safe! Pharaoh's army tried to follow them across, but God made the water come back down-—SPLASH! God's people were safe on the other side! Exodus 14:30 (simplified) says: "God saved His people! They were safe!" God defeated the bad guys and God's people were ALL SAFE! They didn't have to be scared anymore! God kept His people safe! And God keeps YOU safe too! When you're scared, you can pray to God and ask Him to help you. The Bible tells us that God's people were SO HAPPY and SO THANKFUL! What did they do? They SANG! They said "Thank You, God!" Let's sing and thank God too!
Simple Connection: Moses helped God's people go through the water to be safe. Jesus helps us too! When we trust Jesus, He keeps us safe forever!" Jesus is like Moses but even BETTER! Moses helped people walk through water. Jesus died on the cross and came back to life so we can live with Him forever!
Application:
1. When you're scared, pray to God - He helps His people!
2. God is strong and powerful - He can do anything!
3.When God helps you, say "Thank You, God!"
