The Burning Bush and SIgns - Exodus Series (Toddler/PreK)
Today in Calvary Kids, we learned that God knows us, calls us, and helps us.
Read Exodus 3:1-22; 4:1-17
Remember Moses from last week? He had to run away because he made a bad choice. Now Moses takes care of sheep. He was a shepherd for a long, long time. Today we're going to learn about when God talked to Moses from a burning bush- a bush with fire that didn't burn up!
The Bible tells us that Moses was watching his sheep when he saw something amazing! Moses was taking care of sheep and he saw a bush with fire on it- a real fire! But the bush stayed green, it didn't burn up! Moses said, "Wow, what is that? I need to take a closer look."
This fire was special because God's fire didn't hurt the bush!" The Bible tells us that God called Moses from the bush! God said, "Moses! Moses!" Moses said, "Here I am!" God said, "Take off your shoes! This is holy ground." Moses listened to God and took off his sandals. God knew Moses' name and he knows your name too! The Bible tells us that God wanted Moses to go help His people. God said "My people are sad in Egypt. I want you to go help them!" Moses said, "I can't do it! I'm scared and people won't believe what I say." But God said, "I will help you! I will be with you!" God promised to help Moses be brave and God always keeps His promises.
The Bible tells us that God gave Moses special signs to show the people God sent him. The people could see the special signs and know that Moses was speaking the truth. God made Moses' stick turn into a snake and made Moses' hand get sick and get better again. God said "I'll help you do amazing things!" Moses was scared to do what God asked, but God promised to help him. God helped him be brave and strong!
Moses saw God in a burning bush but Jesus came to earth so we could see God as a person! Jesus knows our names just like God knew Moses' name. Just like Moses talked to God, we can talk to Jesus anytime we want, especially when we are scared.
Application:
1. When you're scared, remember God will help you.
2. When your parents ask you to do something, obey them, like Moses obeyed God's words.
3. God knows your name and loves you!
