Moses Flees to Midian- Exodus Series
Today in Calvary Kids, we learned that Moses tried to help but did it in the wrong way. We also learned that we can't hide anything from God because He sees everything, God still loves us when we make mistakes, and God wants us to ask Him for help.
Read Exodus 2:11-25
Remember baby Moses from last week? A lot of time has passed! He grew up in Pharaoh’s palace, and now he’s a man. One day, something happened that changed everything.
The Bible tells us that Moses saw someone being mean to God’s people, the Hebrews. It made him very mad! Moses wasn’t a little boy anymore and he was all grown up. But when he saw his people being hurt, his anger took over. Moses got so mad that he made a bad choice. He tried to help, but he did it the wrong way by being mean and hurting the man who was hurting the Hebrews.
Because of his bad choice, Moses had to run away. Pharaoh found out what happened and wanted to hurt him. So Moses left his home and his nice house, his friends, and his family and walked far away through the hot sand. He was tired. He was thirsty. And he sat down by a well, all alone. Moses felt sad about what he did. But here’s the good news…
When we make bad choices, we feel sad inside too. But just like Moses, God still loves us!
Even when we mess up, God sees us, cares for us, and helps us learn to do better next time. God sees everything even the things we try to hide. Moses tried to hide his bad choice, but God saw it. And guess what? God sees when we do good things, too! Even when we make bad choices, God still loves us and has a plan for us just like He did for Moses.
The Bible tells us that one day, Moses was sitting by a well when some girls came to get water for their sheep. But some mean men were being bullies! This time, Moses helped the right way and he was brave but kind! He helped the girls and got water for all their sheep.
The girls’ daddy was so thankful! He said, “Thank you! Come eat with us!” And just like that, Moses got a new home, a new family, and a new job taking care of sheep.
Moses learned to be gentle with the sheep. He watched over them and cared for them just like God watches over us. That’s how God wants us to be too: gentle, not mean. While Moses was taking care of sheep for a long time, something important was happening back in Egypt. God’s people were sad and prayed, “Help us, God!” And the Bible says, God heard every prayer. He was getting Moses ready to help His people even though Moses didn’t know it yet.
Moses made a bad choice when he was angry, but God still loved him!
God taught Moses to be gentle and patient and He wants to teach us the same thing.
Even when we make mistakes, God still loves us and has a plan for our lives.
“Thank You, God, for loving us even when we make mistakes. Help us be gentle and kind.
Amen.”

2. If you've done something wrong, don't try to hide it - confess it quickly because it will be discovered anyway.
3. When you face consequences for your actions, remember God can use that time to teach you important lessons.
4. Be patient with God's timing - He might be preparing you for something that takes years to be ready for.
5. Do your regular, everyday tasks faithfully - God uses ordinary faithfulness to prepare us for extraordinary things

2. Moses tried to help his people but did it the wrong way. Can you think of a time you tried to help but made things worse?
3. How did God use Moses' 40 years in the desert to prepare him? What hard thing might God be using to prepare you?
4. Why do you think God waited 40 years before sending Moses back? What does this teach us about patience?
5. How is Jesus different from Moses in the way He saved people?
Memory Verse:
