Baby Moses in the Basket- Exodus Series (Toddler/PreK)
Today in Calvary Kids, we started a new series through Exodus. We learned about Moses and the very beginning of his life. The kids learned that God keeps us safe because He loves us. He has an amazing, good plan for us.
Read Exodus 2:1-10
Today we’re learning about a special baby named Moses. A long time ago, there was a mean king who didn’t like God’s people. But guess what? God is stronger than any mean person! Moses’ mommy loved her baby so much and wanted to keep him safe.
She hid her baby from the mean king, but when he got too big to hide, she made a special basket boat! She put baby Moses in the basket and placed it in the river. The basket floated on the water. Moses had a big sister named Miriam and she watched the basket to make sure her baby brother was safe. If you have a baby brother or sister, you can help take care of them just like Miriam did!
Then something amazing happened! The princess, the king’s daughter, saw the basket floating on the water and she opened it and heard baby Moses crying. The princess said, “Aww! I want to take care of this baby.” God helped the princess love baby Moses! And guess what? Miriam was nearby! She ran to get Moses’ mommy to help take care of him.
God’s plan was perfect!
Baby Moses grew up safe and loved. God had a big plan for him to help His people one day! Even when things feel scary, we can remember: God is always in control. He loves us and keeps us safe, just like He kept baby Moses safe.
What is the Christ Connection?:
Baby Moses was kept safe…and baby Jesus was kept safe too!
Moses grew up to help God’s people, but Jesus grew up to save us and love us forever.
Discussion Questions:
1. Who was in the basket?
2. Where did the basket float?
3. Who found the baby?
4. Did God keep Moses safe? Does God keep you safe?
Application Points:
- God keeps you safe like He kept Moses safe.
- You can be a helper like Moses' big sister, Miriam.
- When you're scared, remember God loves you
Memory Verse:
"God knew me" - Jeremiah 1:5 (simplified)
