The Ark Comes to Jerusalem- The Life of David Series (Toddler/Prek)
Today in Calvary Kids, the kids learned that doing things God way is the best way. Sometimes we try to do things are own way with good intentions, but sometimes that is still not God's way, which is the best way. We learned that we can worship God with joy and Jesus is always with us.
Read 2 Samuel 6
There was a beautiful golden box called the Ark and it showed that God was with His people. David wanted it in his city and it was a reminder to everyone that God was with them. He was so excited and wanted to put the Ark on a cart, but this was not the way God wanted it. The cart tipped and a man died because of it! Although David had all the right intentions, he did not go to God about the way in which he should move the ark, he just did it his own way.
God's way was for special helpers to carry it and they used long sticks called poles. The special helpers then carried the Ark. Notice here that they would take six steps, and then would pray. David was so happy that he danced and danced for God with joy and worshipped Him. He was so free in his dancing, that even his own wife saw him dancing and thought he was silly. But David did not care about anyone thinking he was silly because he loved God so much. Sometimes people might laugh when we love God, but that is okay. God loves when we worship Him.
