David Becomes King- The Life of David Series (Toddler/PreK)
Today in Calvary Kids, the focus was on David finally becoming king after waiting a long time. We highlighted how David asked God what to do, how God kept His promise, and how David wanted to help people as king. We learned that God always keeps His word to us.
Read 2 Samuel 2:1-7; 5:1-12; 1 Chronicles 11:1-3
Remember David? He was the shepherd boy who fought the giant! He also had special friends who helped him. For a long time, King Saul was chasing David, but now Saul is gone and David doesn’t have to run anymore.
A long time ago, God made David a promise: “One day you will be king.” But David had to wait…and wait…and wait. Waiting is hard, isn’t it? But God always remembers His promises.
Finally, when David grew up, the people came to him and said, “Be our king!” They put a crown on his head, and everyone cheered. God kept His promise! David didn’t just take a crown and boss people around. He wanted to help them and lead them with kindness. He even went into a big city called Jerusalem and made it a special city for God. David was brave for God, and we can be brave too when we tell others, “Jesus loves you!”
David was a good King, but he wasn’t King forever. Jesus is the best King of all!
Jesus loves us so much, and He is King of everything forever! We can always trust Him!

2. What did David do when he didn't know what to do? (Prayed/asked God)
3. Did God keep His promise? (Yes!)
4. Was David a helper king or a mean king? (Helper king!)
5. Who is our King? (Jesus!)
Application Time:

3. Be patient when you have to wait
