Wait Upon the Lord
Today in Calvary Kids, we learned that it is always worth waiting on the Lord. He has a plan even when we can't see it and we can trust Him in it.
Read Acts 24-25:12
Paul is on trial and this means that Paul is in trouble and has to go before important people to explain why he shouldn’t be in trouble. He is in Rome now and is going before Governor Felix. The Jewish priest accused Paul of being a trouble maker and was lying that Paul was making the temple unclean.
Yet even in this, God has a plan and Paul knew he would have to wait on the Lord. He trusted that in the right time, this whole thing would come to an end. Have you ever felt frustrated because something took a while or someone was saying mean or untrue things about you? Whatever Paul was feeling, he still continued to trust and wait on the Lord.
Felix knew about the followers of Jesus and what they believed. Felix gave Paul some freedom while he waited for an answer. In verse 27, we find out that 2 years go by without any answer at all! Then a new governor came into power and his name was Festus. What a name! We find ourselves in Acts 25 now with a new governor and more trouble of course!
The Jewish leaders yet again wanted to hurt Paul and within three days went to the new governor Festus to stir up trouble again. They were trying to get Festus to send Paul back to Jerusalem, but by God's Sovereignty, Festus did not allow that. Thankfully God didn’t allow their plan to work out and that Paul would be kept in Caesarea.
Festus heard what Paul had to say, but also was wanting to please the Jews. He asked Paul where he wanted to be judged. Paul wanted to go before Caesar, being a Roman citizen and Festus actually said ok! Paul even got to make his case before a King!
This whole thing keeps dragging on and on and on. Man! When will it end? God knows when it will end and Paul trusts God. Waiting can be so hard, and Paul has been waiting for such a long time.
God’s timing is the best timing. Why is that true? Even if we don’t understand, we have to trust God. Sometimes God does have us wait and it could be because we aren’t ready yet, or that others aren’t ready yet. God loves you so much, that everything he does or doesn’t do, is out of love.
How have you seen God’s love? Remember to wait on God’s time and trust Him!
Let’s pray and ask God to help us trust God and wait for his time like Paul did.
