Move Up Day
Today is a special day. It’s “Move Up Day”! Whether you’re a student moving from first grade to second, from fourth to fifth, or even a parent watching your child take that next big step, there’s a sense of excitement… and maybe a little nervousness too. But the beautiful truth is this: God knew this day was coming—and He’s already prepared the way for you.
Read Jeremiah 1:5, Ephesians 2:10, Matthew 28:20, and Luke 2:52
In Jeremiah 1:5, God speaks to the prophet and says something amazing:
Before Jeremiah had taken his first breath, God knew him intimately. He knew the plans He had for him. This truth isn't just for Jeremiah—it’s for all of us. God’s knowledge of us is not just general—it’s personal.
He knew your personality, your strengths, your potential and He designed you with a purpose in mind. So while a new grade might feel uncertain or even a bit scary, we can rest in the confidence that this isn’t a surprise to God that you are moving up today. He already saw this coming, and He’s walking into it with us.
Jesus promised in Matthew 28:20: “I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” When Jesus spoke those words, He was about to ascend into heaven. The disciples were stepping into a new season without Jesus physically beside them. That change must have felt overwhelming. Yet, Jesus reassured them—and us—that His presence never leaves us.
Whether it’s starting third grade, transitioning schools, or facing a new teacher or classmate, God is right there beside every child, every step of the way.
Think about King David. Long before he wore the crown, he was just a shepherd boy. In fact, when the prophet Samuel came to anoint the next king, David’s own father didn’t even think to call him inside. But God had already chosen him.
During the years before David became king, God was preparing him:
Every step along the way, God was building David up—teaching him, strengthening him, and getting him ready for something greater. The same is true for our kids. Every year, every grade, every challenge—it’s part of God’s preparation.
Let’s not forget that even Jesus, as a young boy, experienced growth. Luke 2:52 tells us:
So do not be afraid of this next adventure because Jesus is with you in it and He will never leave or forsake you.
Discussion Questions:
We do not have discussion questions this week. We had lots of activities for the kids to be able to participate in for move up day.
Memory Verse:
"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them." Ephesians 2:10

In Jeremiah 1:5, God speaks to the prophet and says something amazing:
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart…” (Jeremiah 1:5)
Before Jeremiah had taken his first breath, God knew him intimately. He knew the plans He had for him. This truth isn't just for Jeremiah—it’s for all of us. God’s knowledge of us is not just general—it’s personal.

During the years before David became king, God was preparing him:
- Fighting lions and bears in 1 Samuel 17:34
- Defeating Goliath in 1 Samuel 17:50
- Battling Philistines in 1 Samuel 23:5
- Finding strength in the Lord in 1 Samuel 30:4
- Overcoming the Amalekites in 1 Samuel 30:17
- And finally, being anointed king in 2 Samuel 5:3
Every step along the way, God was building David up—teaching him, strengthening him, and getting him ready for something greater. The same is true for our kids. Every year, every grade, every challenge—it’s part of God’s preparation.
Let’s not forget that even Jesus, as a young boy, experienced growth. Luke 2:52 tells us:
“And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.”
Jesus—the Son of God—didn’t skip the growing process. He experienced childhood, learned obedience, grew in wisdom, and stepped gradually into His calling. That means there's nothing wrong with growing slowly, or needing time to develop because that is all part of God’s design. And guess what? The same Jesus who walked through growth now lives in you! God is good!So do not be afraid of this next adventure because Jesus is with you in it and He will never leave or forsake you.
