CALVARY CHAPEL MERIDIAN

He is Risen

Today in Calvary Kids, we celebrated the fact that CHRIST IS RISEN! The stone had been rolled away and soon the disciples would find out that Jesus was alive!

Read John 20

Wouldn't it be a complete surprise to see the stone rolled away to the tomb, especially when Roman soldiers guarded the tomb. If anyone had tried to break the seal on the tomb or get in it would have been a fight to the death. When Mary ran to told Peter and John that the stone had been rolled away and the body was gone, they both ran to the tomb.

Peter really took a look at the scene, almost like he was a police detective. He noticed that everything was neatly in place. It was almost as if someone went right through the cloth! It says that John saw this and after looking at the scene, he believed. Then they remembered the scriptures that talked about Jesus rising from the grave and it all started making more sense.

Mary was still upset and stayed for a while, but then two angels came to try and comfort her. You would think if two angels appeared, that it would startle her, but she was very upset and still didn’t really understand.

She was finally ready to give up, but Jesus then came to her. This is the same for us; Sometimes we feel like giving up on something especially when we lose hope, but Jesus will always show up for us. She was so happy and the Bible says she was clinging to Him.
Jesus immediately had a job for Mary to do… to go and tell people that
Jesus rose from the grave. Mary found the disciples and told them.

That evening, the disciples were behind locked doors and hiding because the Jewish leaders might have thought they stole Jesus’ body. Then out of nowhere, Jesus shows up! They were all probably shocked! They were filled with joy! Are we ever filled with joy in knowing that Christ overcame death to save us from our sins? Jesus then tells them to have peace. Peace is something Jesus wants for us, and we can always turn to Jesus for peace when we need it by just praying to Him for it.

Eight days later, Jesus shows up again to the disciples to show Himself to Thomas. Thomas had some extra questions and needed extra proof that Jesus actually rose from the grave. God knows exactly what we need to believe. He can show us in many different ways that He is God and will meet us all where we’re at if we ask Him to. Thomas had finally believed after he saw and touched the scars on Jesus' hands and feet.

Do you believe in Jesus fully? Do you believe that He can do all things in your life and meet you where you are at? Don't be afraid to call out to Jesus if you haven't yet! He desires a relationship with you and is waiting for you! The Book of John is all about believing in the One who came to save you from your sins and rise again to defeat death. HE IS RISEN INDEED!
