Seven Chosen and Stephen's Boldness (PreK/Toddler)
This week in Calvary Kids Preschool, we learned about the apostles finding leaders to help them with the growing ministry of the church. One of those leaders, Stephen, was very bold for the Lord with the power of the Holy Spirit.
Read Acts 6:1-15
In Acts 6, we see that the church is growing and growing fast. The church was getting so big that the apostles didn’t have enough help to minister to all the people. So they choose men filled with the Holy Spirit to help with the work.
Stephen was one of the seven chosen to help. Stephen did many signs and great wonders because of the Holy Spirit working through him. Because of this, there were some people who wanted to stop him from doing these works of God, and so they lied about him and stirred up the people against him. The bible tells us that during his trial, Stephen had the face of an angel. Stephen had the peace of God even though people were being mean to him. He had the joy of God even though people were lying about him and arrested him.
This is an important lesson for us to learn. Even though we go through hard times, God can give us the joy and peace we need to get through it. And the helper God sent to us is the Holy Spirit. Just like the apostles received help to do ministry, we receive help from the Holy Spirit when we face a challenge. When it’s hard to listen to our parents, when it’s hard to do our chores, or when it’s hard to be nice to someone when someone is being mean to us, we can pray and ask God to help us and He will.

- When you need help with something do you like to do things on your own or do you like to ask for help?
- Do you like helping around the house, doing chores for your parents even without asking?
- What is a chore that don’t like doing?
- Did you know you can ask the Holy Spirit for help when you need to do chores, or when you need to listen or when you need help for anything?
- Have you ever asked God for help for something?
- Have you ever prayed for someone else?
