Fruit of the Spirit: Kindness

When we are Kind, Others Will See Jesus in Us

We have learned about four fruits of the Spirit over the past few weeks: love, joy, peace, and patience. Today in Calvary Kids preschool, children learned about Kindness.

When we are kind, we can show people how Jesus would treat them. Kindness
means that we are friendly and say and do things that show we care about another
person.

The Bible says that we should be kind to one another because Jesus was kind to
others. In fact, Jesus showed kindness to everyone He met. He came to be a friend and showed with His words and His actions that He cared for people.

The Bible also says something else about kindness. It says kindness is like honey. Kind words are like honey because they are sweet to our souls. God wants us to use kind words when we talk to others. That means saying encouraging and polite things to our friends. It also means using respectful talk to our moms and dads.

Not only should our words be kind, but our actions – what we do – should be kind as
well. We can be kind to our friends by helping them if they get hurt. We can be kind to
our parents by picking up our toys when they tell us to.

Jesus showed kindness, so we should too. When we are kind, others see Jesus inside
of us.

Family Discussion:
  • Who should you be kind to?
  • What are some ways you can use kind words?
  • What are some ways you can use kind actions?
  • Can you remember the other fruits of the Spirit?

Memory Verse
But the fruit the Holy Spirit produces is love, joy and peace. It is being patient, kind and good. It is being faithful and gentle and having control of oneself. Galatians 5:22-23
